Arches National Park, Southeastern, Utah

Summary

If you are mesmerized by natural sandstone arches (approximately 1,500 arches) then this is a place to check out.  They offer camping inside the park at Devils Garden Campground.  If you don't want to "rough it" there are several hotels outside the park in Moab.  If you only have one day to explore, the best thing to do is enter through the parks only entrance and follow the main road to the Windows parking area (restrooms available).  Get there early because parking is limited. From there, you can explore four arches via short and easy trails:  The North and South Windows, Turret Arch and the Double Arch.  Along the level trail to the Double Arch you will see a formation on the left that resembles a Parade of Elephants.  Let your imagination run free and you can see many different objects in the formations. If you just have enough time to grab some pictures from your car then check out the Balance Rock, Three Gossips and the Organ.

The ultimate hike in this park is the Delicate Arch Trail!!!  It's a strenuous 3 mile round trip hike.  It's the perfect place to watch the sunset but be sure to bring your headlamp because the park is very dark once the sun sets.
